Sylvie is presently working on a series of ceramic wall plaques.
She is intrigued with the idea of taking the paper art dioramas she created for her 100 day projects and applying that multi dimensional effect to clay.
For these hand built pieces, she uses several layers of clay to create a diorama effect. Each layer is fired twice and then cold glazed.
Artists from around the world have participated in various online 100 Day projects over the last nine years, many connecting through Instagram where scores of projects have been shared. For the last three years, Sylvie participated in Ella Luna's "The 100 Day Project" through Instagram. The matchboxes are approximately 1.5x2 inches. They are mixed media but are primarily paper craft. Materials are sometimes; paper, PMC, handmade ceramic wearable pieces, and n-scale figures. The paper art packages are various paper art creations used to embellish Sylvie's ceramic or PMC jewelry pieces.
The 100 Days of Matchbox Curios was displayed in its entirety at the Outnumbered Gallery in Littleton where most of the matchboxes sold.
These can all be seen on Instagram @sabeca16.
A selected variety of archived works is shown here. They are primarily raku clay and some are mixed media with clay. The themes range from sculptures featuring multiples to more decorative and whimsical work. Many of these have found homes.
